Taste the Rainbow Cake Or ROYGBIV the Jon Byerly Way

First and foremost I must note that no children were harmed in the making of this cake. Secondly I must tell you the story of said multicolor cake. In a galaxy far far far far away........... or better known as Tennessee, there lives a girl by the name of Rebekah. Rebekah has an affection for Rainbow Cakes , and for some bizarre reason my brother was given the task of finding a Rainbow cake and preparing it for her. After many months he fulfilled the task assigned to him. Here are some photos of my brother Jon finishing up the ROYGBIV confection.

Rolling up the sleeves , and slappin on the first swipe.

Skillfully wielding the spatula, spreading oh so gracefully.
Determined to get every last bit onto said rainbow cake.

An almost wordless Saturday

Sad sleepy eyes...... Learned this from his first dog buddy Suzie.

Remy falling into a snooze.

Lovely farm in Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania.

Jeff at Cabelas playing a target game.

This is diesel.... but his ears got chewed off by a dog....
My friend Mrs Rogers says he is a bit "touched" but he is the
sweetest cat ever and so tolerant.

My husband and brother in law had to have pretzels,
before we left town..... A whole box!!

Some pretty neat mounts located in Cabelas......
My brother in law Jon taught me how to tell if the
deer is a Whitetail or Mule by just looking at the rack.

I've Been Everywhere !!

My new theme song is "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash . And  if your not familiar with the song,  I have posted  a few dear to my heart lines from the chorus.

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert's bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

And I have!!! In the last two weeks I have been to: Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois,Indiana,Ohio,Pennsylvania, Maryland,Virginia, and Tennessee. I have alot of fun pictures to post and will get to posting them by Monday. But in the meantime I just wanted to make it known that I am still blogging ......... Seventy five percent of the time I never know where I will be, but my promise is that you will always find me here.

Trippin!!

So more changes to come! My husband and I are on a new adventure in our strange wonderland. First change, my husband was layed off ..... yikes, but not really.  Second change, my husband was called by a friend who told him he would very likely be offered a job for a very large electric company, this company would take him on as an apprentice electrician until he can become a journeyman, but the job does not start until around the first week of January. Third change, my husband and I are heading to PA for around 4 weeks so that my husband can work with his brother doing construction to make ends meet and save some money. So changes changes changes from home to home , state to state, and job to job, there will be lots to blog about . But it all has to start off with a 31 hour trip from the beautiful state of  NM to  the lovely state of PA. So I may not be able to update the blog for a week or so until I get settled, but it is my solemn promise you that I will have plenty of blog material after the loooooooong trip........... after all taking a trip with my husband is never dull. Road trip!!!!

Don't Take up Residence

My heart can sing when I pause to remember

A heartache here is but a stepping stone

Along a trail that's winding always upward,

This troubled world is not my final home.

Chorus

But until then my heart will go on singing,

Until then with joy I'll carry on,

Until the day my eyes behold the city,

Until the day God calls me home.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value

If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;

And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,

Remembered there will only bring a smile.

Chorus

But until then my heart will go on singing,

Until then with joy I'll carry on,

Until the day my eyes behold the city,

Until the day God calls me home.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle

May take its toll of misery and strife;

The soul of man is like a waiting falcon;

When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

Chorus

But until then my heart will go on singing,

Until then with joy I'll carry on,

Until the day my eyes behold the city,

Until the day God calls me home.

I enjoy this old hymn so much, It is a reminder to have joy under any circumstances. To be at peace because this world is not our home . We have so much more waiting for us. I urge you to keep looking to Lord keep listening for his call, because it is coming soon.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10

I am weak, I know I am weak, but my weakness can bring Christ glory.

Cherry Vintage Wheels!!

I told you about my Dad's Trans Am days. And now I am telling you of his Chevy Nova present days. My Dad bought a 1975 Chevrolet Nova LN Coupe , and it is in sweet condition. And get this, he only paid 2,000 for it ( his brother was selling it) !! The LN sent Nova into the luxury compact car market in 1979. Nova's slogan for the LN was " Thanks to LN, Nova's image will never be the same" and it did! In case you didn't know LN stands for Luxury Nova . So my dad has a fourth generation Nova  that runs great and looks great , and yes it still needs a few tweaks but in the end it will be worth it .

Here's my dad ... had to throw him in there,
since it's his car....... I think he is watering trees.

There is the front of Miss Nova herself,
my brother will be removing the ugly yellow lights,
and replacing them "tweak" "tweak".

The LN logo, sorry about my partial reflection,
my Dad keeps the car really shiny.

Window action!

Looks really long, kinda is.

The manual looks like this...... yuck ugly color.

Changes !!!

The weather is changing, our lives are changing, many things have changed in the past six months. And because of this  I felt the blog needed a change!! So I changed the layout.
I hope you all like it.......... and if you don't too bad because I do!
I can't wait to see what the next 6 months have to hold for us , I know whatever or wherever the Lord will always take care of us . God is so very good! Plus I am going to shout out to my good friend and new Christian  (Praise the Lord!) Courtney Jacks. Courtney you have changed so much since I first met you, I love you more and more each time I talk to you, and I am so excited for the changes that are coming in your life...... you are always in my prayers.

Baby it's Cold Outside!

Southbound on Highway 434 in Mora County, New Mexico the morning after a light snow. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are in the background.

It is now dropping to a low of 19 degrees at night and only warms up to 40 degrees during the day. And I live where, you ask? In Mora County New Mexico, contrary to what most people think, New Mexico is not dry and sandy. I live at an elevation of 7,000 ft and the wind sweeps off the snow capped mountains and chills straight to the bone. There are some great ski resorts located in Angel Fire, Taos, and Red River NM , and learning to snowboard before kids enter into the picture is my goal. It is suppose to lightly snow tonight and it should look something like the above picture taken last year .......... can't wait but also feel partially frozen right now.

There is no such thing as an unwounded soldier

Thank you for abandoning the comforts of home to keep our land free, Thank you for touring in distant unknown, and unwelcoming  foreign lands, Thank you for all the training hours completed to be your best, Thank you for your valor, courage and soul , and Thank you for your readiness to sacrifice your all, for the sake of my freedom, and Thank you most of all for the wounds received protecting my freedom....... There are no unwounded soldiers all of you have sacrificed a piece of yourself to serve our country.

Shoot em up!!!!

Lady- like Firepower!!

I firmly agree...... and think he is adorable.

By look on this girls face I don't think she should be behind that particular gun!

My husband conceal carries all the time and is always telling me to get my license to do the same . I am sure I will someday . Currently he is working on getting me to try out his pump action shotgun ....... but to tell you the truth it scares me and my arms are too short to reach the trigger LOL. Every time he wants me to try it I say maybe later........... hopefully maybe later never comes. But don't get me wrong  I adore handguns!!

Happy Birthday to my Love, my darling, my best friend. Happy Birthday to the man who makes me smile when I am frowning , and who helps pull me out of the waters of defeat when I am drowning. Happy Birthday to the man who gives all of his love and holds nothing back. Happy Birthday to the man who does all he can to please me without a selfish thought. Happy Birthday my Husband .......... My Love.
